Adventure, excitement—a truck owner definitely craves these things, and the midsize Toyota Tacoma has been the perfect choice for thrill-seekers for many years now. However, with the all-new 2024 Tacoma, Toyota has taken things to the next level and delivered a pickup like we have never seen before. As your Toyota dealer near Lancaster, PA, we feel it is only right to make sure all of our friends and customers know about what’s new and exciting in the Toyota lineup. Few vehicles live up to this as beautifully as the redesigned 2024 Tacoma, that’s absolutely perfect for getting around town, handling some serious work, and leaving civilization behind to have some fun. Let’s look at some details of this truck, and you’ll see why we’re so excited about everything it offers.

Redesigned for a New Era

Although the Toyota Tacoma can help you get some work done, many people choose this truck for exploring the great outdoors and having fun far from the city. This is something Toyota understands, and finding new ways to facilitate that was at the heart of their approach to redesigning the Tacoma. They wanted to build a truck that was just as much at home in forests and splashing through creeks as it is racing through deserts and overlanding for weeks at a time. The result was a redesigned truck using Toyota’s new TNGA-F truck platform shared with the full-size Tundra.

For the 2024 Tacoma, the chassis is built from high-strength steel to ensure it can survive a lot of abuse on the trail, with aluminum on the upper body to keep weight down. A newly available multi-link rear suspension replaces the leaf springs on older models with coil springs for boosted performance and a better feel when driving around Lancaster. Four-wheel disc brakes have helped to improve the Tacoma’s braking (important for the more powerful engines we’ll look at in a moment), along with larger front brakes on TRD models to enhance stopping power even more. Each grade or trim also has a specifically-tuned suspension designed to improve the capability and functionality of each of them, providing you with a better driving experience.

Fantastic Engines for Getting Around Lancaster

We mentioned those engines a moment ago, and we couldn’t wait to get into them because they’re some of the most impressive powertrains we’ve ever seen on a midsize truck. Most models come with a 2.4L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine tuned for two different levels of performance depending on the trim you look at. Standard SR models of the Tacoma get 228 hp and 243 lb-ft of torque; higher trims have an engine that delivers 278 hp and 317 lb-ft of torque. Both versions of this engine come paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, but there’s a six-speed manual available if you prefer total control over your truck—this perfectly illustrates how well Toyota understands truck fans.

In case this remarkable engine doesn’t have the power you’re looking for, Toyota has taken things even further with an available i-FORCE MAX hybrid engine that combines the 2.4L engine with a battery-powered motor. With this engine, the Tacoma roars to life with 326 hp and 465 lb-ft of torque, offering far greater torque than anything the previous generation’s engines could deliver. We’d be lying if we said that this isn’t the engine we’re most excited about, and it’s fantastic to see Toyota showing such a commitment to power and performance when it comes to the midsize segment.

Unparalleled Off-Road Performance

As we said earlier, Toyota’s focus when redesigning the Tacoma was meeting the needs of drivers who want a midsize truck born for adventure; we’d say they more than met their goal. For starters, you have an all-new front stabilizer bar disconnect that you can activate with the push of a button to improve the flexibility and articulation of the Tacoma’s front end, which has even been designed to work with approved lift kits so you can still customize your truck. TRD Pro models, well known as some of the best off-road trucks on the market, have 11 inches of ground clearance, an approach angle of 33.8 degrees, a breakover angle of 23.5 degrees, and a 25.7-degree departure angle.

Perhaps most exciting of all, Toyota is introducing an entirely new Trailhunter grade for the 2024 Tacoma, which has been designed specifically with overlanding in mind. The Trailhunter was created in partnership with a renowned Australian company and included position-sensitive 2.5-inch forged monotube shocks, a steel rear bumper, strong recovery points, and a bed utility bar. There’s even an available bed rack designed to handle extra weight from things like rooftop tents, camp showers, and more. With 33-inch Goodyear Territory R/T tires, a high-clearance tail exhaust, and a high-mounted air intake, the Trailhunter has been designed to go anywhere you can imagine and let you stay there as long as you want.

Robust Capability for Work and Play

In all of the excitement about enhanced off-road performance and the all-new Trailhunter model, it’s easy to forget that this is still a truck, and it’s been built with work as well as play in mind. When properly equipped, the 2024 Tacoma can handle up to 6,500 lbs of maximum towing capacity or up to 1,709 lbs of maximum payload. This means you can easily load it up with everything you need to take with you and head to a job site or your favorite campground. Whether you need a midsize truck for taking a boat to the river or Clarke Lake on the weekend or for making a trip to Philly, the Tacoma has you covered.

Innovative Technology Throughout

Despite a focus on delivering an adventurous truck for thrill-seekers, Toyota hasn’t overlooked the need for amazing features inside the 2024 Tacoma. While an 8.0-inch Infotainment display is standard on starting models, the available 14-inch multimedia touchscreen is gorgeous and the perfect choice for getting the most from what the Tacoma has to offer. The Infotainment system supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus has numerous USB ports for charging and connectivity, along with an available Qi wireless charging pad to make it even easier to keep compatible devices charged.

A 7.0-inch gauge cluster display is standard for the Tacoma, but there’s an available 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster that looks stunning and makes it easy to keep an eye on information while staying focused on the road. All Tacoma models come with a Smart Key System with push-button start; while an available Digital Key system lets you use your smartphone for entry, tailgate access, and even starting the truck. To really elevate your driving experience around Lancaster, there’s an available JBL 10-speaker sound system that includes a subwoofer and JBL FLEX portable speaker that’s perfect for taking your music with you on your next adventure.

The Tacoma Has Everything We’ve Been Hoping For

As you can see, the all-new 2024 Toyota Tacoma is a truck unlike anything else out there, with powerful performance, amazing off-road features, and technology designed to take your drive further than ever before. It’s easy to see why we’re so excited for this pickup and we can’t wait to see the way it will change the lives of our friends in Lancaster and throughout the area. If you’ve been looking for a new midsize truck that’s born for adventure and perfect for getting through the week and heading outdoors on the weekend, then your search is over. All you have to do now is decide on the Tacoma model that’s right for you—we won’t judge if the incredible features of the new Trailhunter grade calls to you. We feel the same and we can’t wait to enjoy everything this truck can do for ourselves.

We regularly have Denver, Pennsylvania drivers come to us, curious about the Toyota Corolla Cross. Toyota only put the Corolla Cross on the market for the first time for the 2022 model year. The Corolla Cross was inspired by the popular Corolla sedan. It similarly features responsive handling and incredible fuel economy. Not surprisingly, many people who have long been fans of the Toyota Corolla have been asking us about the Toyota Corolla Cross. If you’re looking for a Toyota dealer near Denver, PA, we hope you’ll pay us a visit here at Performance Toyota. We know this is an excellent vehicle for enjoying life in this area.

With exciting destinations like Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Allentown, all just about an hour’s drive away, Denver enjoys a very special location. Drivers who want or need to visit the many nearby cities on a regular basis will really appreciate the Toyota Corolla Cross. Not only is it incredibly fuel efficient, but it also boasts tons of features that make it a great fit for anyone who does a lot of driving. We carry the all-new Toyota Corolla Cross and are excited to introduce Denver residents to it. So, if you’ve been wondering if this subcompact SUV is right for you, here are some things to consider.

Do You Love Exceptional Cargo?

If it seems like you’re constantly loading and unloading your trunk with groceries, bicycles, school books, and more, you will like the impressive cargo of the Corolla Cross. Its trunk has a wide and low opening that makes for an easy lift of heavy items. That low dock also means it’s easy for pets to jump in and out, making it the ideal vehicle for drivers who like to take four-legged companions with them on their adventures.

An available power liftgate gives you the flexibility to open the trunk with little more than the push of a button either on your keyfob or on the liftgate itself. So when your arms are full, and you can’t free up a hand to manually open the trunk, just nudge one of the buttons, and it will open automatically. Plus, you can even set your preferred opening height. So if you know you park in a garage with a low ceiling daily, you can set the height to ensure the liftgate doesn’t open too high.

The rear seats boast a 60/40 split-folding design, giving you options when it comes to creating different cargo configurations. Fold down just the 40 percent side when you need room for a few more things in the back. Fold down the 60 percent side if you need a little more room. Fold down the whole rear seat if you need to turn the entire rear area into cargo space.

Do You Want Jaw-Dropping Fuel Efficiency?

The gas-engine Toyota Corolla Cross gets an impressive EPA-estimated 32 MPG combined, 31 MPG in the city, and 33 MPG on the highway. So whether you stick around town or travel to nearby cities regularly, you shouldn’t find yourself pulling over at the gas pump too often.

Here’s something customers really love about the Corolla Cross: it comes in three hybrid trims. So not only is a hybrid powertrain an option, but you can also choose the trim that has the correct amount of features for you. If you’re looking for something a little more luxurious, check out the Hybrid XSE with its ambient lighting, available moonroof, and a seven-inch fully digital gauge cluster. The best part is that the hybrid Corolla Cross trims get an EPA-estimated 45 MPG in the city and 38 MPG on the highway. With a hybrid Corolla Cross, you have the freedom to travel farther, knowing gas stops won’t be slowing you down, and you won’t eat up all of your adventure funds on fuel. With Denver’s advantageous location, so closely situated near several amazing cities full of nightlife and opportunity, we think that the Corolla Cross hybrid could be the perfect vehicle for residents of this borough.

Do You Want the Best In Tech?

Many of our customers are surprised at how many great features come in the Toyota Corolla Cross, considering its low MSRP. Toyota has led the charge in making affordable hybrids, and the Corolla Cross is no exception. Toyota made excellent technology and connectivity features available to drivers on a budget with this admirable subcompact SUV.

One feature we love to show our drivers is the available Remote Connect. Link your Toyota App to a compatible smartwatch or smartphone, and you can remotely start the engine, lock or unlock your vehicle and even find your Corolla Cross. So when you take a day trip to Philly and can’t quite remember where on the historic streets you parked it, the app can help you. The Corolla Cross also has available Qi wireless charging so that you can leave the messy cords at home for a tidy and seamless device charging experience.

Do You Enjoy a Sense of Command and a Spirited Behind-the-Wheel Experience?

Living in Denver creates a unique set of driving conditions. Sometimes, you’ll be traveling paved roads and highways traveling to and through nearby cities. However, sometimes you’ll be battling the notorious Denver winter streets before the snow plow has come through. When the latter happens, you’ll appreciate the available all-wheel drive, which will improve traction in slippery conditions.
Additionally, the available multi-link rear suspension can mean improved ride quality and better handling. Plus, this sporty subcompact SUV can actually tow up to 1,500 pounds, which many people wouldn’t guess by looking at it. So it can manage to tow a small camper for weekend excursions.

Camry

The Camry is a versatile midsize option that has fantastic fuel economy and a comprehensive range of tech features, no matter which trim level you opt for. The 2023 model has plenty of standard features, even on the base LE trim, like dual-zone automatic climate control, an infotainment system that’s compatible with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Amazon Alexa, and Toyota’s Safety Sense 2.5+ suite of driver assistance technology. The base powertrain uses a 2.5L four-cylinder engine that provides up to 206 horsepower and 186 lb-ft of torque and gives you an EPA-estimated 28 MPG in the city and 39 MPG on the highway. Drivers on a budget can opt for the LE trim and know that Toyota hasn’t cut any corners when it comes to the important stuff.

You have plenty of options when it comes to performance. If you want a little extra traction to help you tackle the next Nor’easter, then you can get the available all-wheel drive. If you’re a driving enthusiast looking for a thrilling ride, or you often drive on two-lane freeways and want to be able to pass slow-moving semis with confidence, then you can upgrade to the 3.5L V6 engine, which delivers 301 horsepower and 267 lb-ft of torque. If you’re willing to pay a little extra upfront in order to get savings year after year at the gas station, then you can get a hybrid Camry and get 51 MPG in the city and 53 MPG on the highway.

A red 2023 Toyota Corolla is shown from the front at a high angle after leaving a Toyota dealer near Ephrata, PA.

Corolla

The Corolla’s compact size makes it more nimble and easy to maneuver on narrow roads and in crowded parking lots. It’s also more affordable than the midsize Camry, though it also offers plenty of desirable standard features across the board, like a remote keyless entry system, wireless Apple CarPlay, and Toyota Safety Sense 3.0. Its 2.0L four-cylinder engine delivers 169 horsepower and 151 lb-ft of torque and can give you up to 32 MPG in the city and 41 MPG on the highway. Features like paddle shifters and selectable drive modes give you complete control over your drive. The Corolla is also available as a hybrid, which is available with an electronic on-demand AWD system and can get you up to 53 MPG in the city and 46 MPG on the highway.

With an affordable sticker price and outstanding fuel economy, the Corolla is a great car for drivers on a tight budget who want to buy or lease a new model. Its compact size is a plus if you drive into the big city often and want to be able to parallel park more easily or grab a “compact” spot in a busy parking garage. It’s also a stylish option with a sleek modern exterior design that’s sure to turn plenty of heads.

Crown

The full-size Crown is only available as a hybrid, but you probably wouldn’t guess that, looking at its athletic exterior. The Crown nameplate hasn’t been available in the U.S. for decades now, and it’s making a big splash with its return for the 2023 model year and its unique body style. Something of a cross between a traditional sedan and an SUV, the Crown has a bold, large front grille and an elevated driving position that’s great for drivers who want a little extra height while they’re behind the wheel.

Drivers looking for a more luxurious option will appreciate the Crown’s premium features. This model comes standard with AWD across the board, and its base engine provides 236 net horsepower, but since it’s an efficient hybrid, you’ll still get an impressive 42 MPG in the city and 41 MPG on the highway, so you can go farther on each fillup. The top-tier Platinum trim features a Hybrid MAX performance powertrain that delivers up to 340 net horsepower for extra thrills. It also has an available two-tone exterior that pairs your color of choice with classy black accents.

Both the Platinum and the Limited trim come with goodies like heated and ventilated front seats with leather trim, a panoramic fixed-glass roof that brings in extra natural light, and an 11-speaker JBL premium audio system with a subwoofer and amplifier that should satisfy even the most discerning audiophile. If you like to take long road trips and want to ride in comfort for hours on end, these comfort and convenience features can make a big difference. The lush interior and stylish exterior can also come in handy if you’re looking to use your ride to make a good impression on anyone, from co-workers or clients to in-laws. If you find yourself stuck between the benefits of a sedan and the positive features of an SUV, then the Crown offers a unique middle ground between the two.

A grey 2023 Toyota Tacoma SR5 Trail Edition is shown from the side in front of a lake.

The Toyota Tacoma is one of the most popular midsize trucks on the road, making it a fantastic option for a wide range of drivers. Toyota offers numerous trims and a variety of options for you to choose from with the Tacoma, so it’s worth taking a little time to figure out which model is right for you before you head to Performance Toyota, your favorite Toyota truck dealer. It can be easy to assume that the differences between these trims are pretty minimal, but in many cases, your choice can have a tremendous impact on the kinds of features and overall performance you get with your truck. Let’s take a look at some of the options you have to choose from and the trim levels available for the Tacoma to figure out which one will best meet your needs.

Engine Options

One of the most important considerations you have when looking at the 2023 Toyota Tacoma is which engine you want since you have two available to you. Some trims will let you choose either engine, while others come with a specific powertrain, which is worth keeping in mind as you look at your overall options. The standard option is a 2.7L four-cylinder engine that delivers 159 hp and 180 lb-ft of torque. This might not be a huge amount of power, but since the Tacoma is a midsize pickup, it should be more than enough for a wide range of tasks.

If you’re looking for greater power in your Tacoma, then Toyota has you covered with a second available engine, which comes standard on some of the higher trims. This is a 3.5L V6 engine that delivers 278 hp and 265 lb-ft of torque, providing you with a fantastic driving experience and lots of power to handle anything you throw at it. Both of these engines make for a great truck, but this available V6 is the way to go if you’re looking for a midsize pickup with exceptional overall performance.

Transmission and Drivetrain Options

Along with two different engines for the 2023 Toyota Tacoma, you also have two different transmission options. The standard one on many Tacoma models is a six-speed automatic transmission, which is highly responsive and a great choice if you want an easy driving experience. If you prefer to have more control over your vehicle, then there’s an available six-speed manual transmission. Manual transmissions have become surprisingly difficult to find on trucks these days, making this a very attractive prospect for many drivers.

Many Tacoma models come with rear-wheel drive as the standard option, giving you 4×2 performance that works well for getting around town or reaching a job site. If you need improved traction and capability, however, then you can choose an available 4WDemand part-time four-wheel drive (4×4) for the Tacoma. This gives you greater performance on dirt roads or in rough weather that can make maintaining control more difficult and is perfect if you want a Tacoma to take off-road or for reaching worksites out in the wilderness.

Cab Size and Bed Length

You have two different options for the size of the Tacoma’s cab, along with two options for its bed length, which you can combine as you see fit on some trims, though others are limited to certain configurations. There’s an Access Cab that gives you seating for up to four passengers, along with a Double Cab that offers five-passenger seating and greater space in the back seats for your passengers to stretch out a bit. You can also choose either a five-foot bed or a six-foot bed, which are both about the same width, but the longer size provides you with greater cargo space and allows for larger items to easily fit into your truck’s bed.

A close up shows the leather seats in a 2023 Toyota Tacoma.

Tacoma Trims

SR

We’re not going to be able to get into every detail of all six trims for the Tacoma, but we’ll hit a few major points on each of them. The SR is the starting trim for this midsize truck and is a great option if you’re shopping on a strict budget and still want amazing features inside and out. You can choose either engine with this trim, along with 4×2 or 4×4 engineering, and it’s available with either bed length along with both cab sizes. The SR comes with skid plates to protect the engine and front suspension, plus Toyota Safety Sense, which includes a Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection and Dynamic Radar Cruise Control. You also get a seven-inch infotainment display with a six-speaker sound system, a 4.2-inch Multi-Information Display for the driver, and standard air conditioning.

SR5

If you like a lot of the standard features but want a bit more, then the SR5 is a great choice, as it also lets you pick from both engines, drivetrains, and numerous configurations. The 2023 Toyota Tundra is a really impressive full-size truck with an attractive starting MSRP and tons of capabilities that will appeal to DIYers and off-roaders alike. We’ve always appreciated that Toyota made such a tough and capable truck at such an accessible price point, especially because we know that many business owners need to buy a pickup for their operations, but might be working with a limited starting budget. The Tundra can compete with the best of them when it comes to towing, hauling, and off-roading, but today, we want to talk about the softer side of the Tundra. Well, the techy side.

As your trusted Toyota truck dealer, we make it our business to know the ins and outs of every feature, down to every last detail, of the vehicles we carry. While our team was getting to know the features of the 2023 Tundra, something that instantly struck us was the fluidity and beauty of the new multimedia system. It just makes all of the tasks you handle on the road, from playing music to looking up directions, feel effortless. Toyota clearly designed this system to work with the real ways people like to use a touch screen, and we think you’re going to love it. Here are some of the highlights of the 2023 Toyota Tundra infotainment system.

You Can Use It Like a Smartphone Screen

By now, almost everyone––even your grandparents––knows how to use a smartphone screen. The sliding, pinching, and zooming motions are second nature to many. So, Toyota built its available 14-inch touchscreen to respond to your finger movements the same way your smartphone screen would. That means you can pinch to zoom in on a map or pan out. You can slide up, down, and to the side to see new options, too. That’s much better than some competitor’s screens that only respond to tapping. Plus, it works incredibly fast, responding to your touch instantly with no perceivable lag time. So, gone are the days of that little loading circle filling the screen, making you dizzy while you wait.

As for its size, for reference, the average laptop screen today is 14 inches. So, that’s how big of a touchscreen you’ll be working with in the Tundra if you opt for a higher trim. Like many laptops today, it also features high-definition graphics and a no-glare screen. It really will feel like you’re looking at a brand-new laptop screen.

Store Your Preferences

First off, the layout of the screen is very well done. You’ll see all of the menu options load up on the left side, like music, phone, car info, and more. When you click the item you want, more information will populate on the right side. Amazon and Apple Music come pre-loaded, so if either of these are your preferred way to stream music, you’re in luck. But here’s what we really love: the Tundra remembers what you like in more ways than one.

For starters, you can favorite stations, so it will remember the type of music you listen to, but with connected services and the Toyota app, you can even communicate with your car from anywhere, using your smartphone device, and pre-set things like temperature and music. So you can essentially create the perfect in-vehicle atmosphere before you even get it. The vehicle can remember several user profiles, too.

Advanced Voice Recognition

There is a lot of voice recognition technology out there today, but it isn’t all created equal. You’re probably familiar with having to repeat yourself multiple times to a smart device that doesn’t understand you unless you also speak like a robot, but the voice recognition system in the Tundra was designed to understand the natural way people speak. No repeating yourself or slowing down. It should get what you said on the first try. Just say, “Hey, Toyota!” and it’s ready to listen.

If you ask it for directions, it will instantly display useful data about your point of interest, too, like the distance and time to the destination, as well as a little phone icon if you’d like to call them. You can use the system to notify your contacts of your ETA. So that should spare you those annoying “Where are you?” texts while you’re trying to pick out the perfect song for your drive.
You can also ask the voice assistant to do things like change the music, make a call, or change the temperature. So you can keep your hands safely on the steering wheel at all times. Even when you realize you forgot to tell your spouse to pick up the kids from soccer practice.

Get Real-Time Updates

With over-the-air updates available, when connected services are turned on, your Tundra can do a few things without you asking it to. For starters, it can handle necessary software updates, so you don’t have to manually go through these. The system will update itself, but it can also get real-time updates on traffic or weather. So, if there’s a crash that just happened up ahead on your route and now a lane is closed, your Tundra will let you know., so you can get off the highway and re-route.

Say Goodbye to Bluetooth Battles

On many older vehicles, only one smart device could pair to the car’s Bluetooth at any given time. That meant that if your friend wanted to play their playlist, you had to unpair your phone, they had to search for your vehicle in their Bluetooth settings, and pair it to their phone. Then you’d have to re-pair your phone when your friend left. Luckily, the Tundra’s Bluetooth can connect to up to five devices and, here’s the kicker, two at the same time. So no arguing over who gets to use the Bluetooth. Your passenger can play DJ with their phone, and you can access the contacts on yours.

A Truck That’s as Tech-Forward as It Is Tough

We love the attention to detail that was put into the infotainment system of the Toyota Tundra. This truck delivers tremendous value for its capabilities alone. Now the addition of this beautiful laptop-sized touchscreen and amazing voice recognition system brings it to the next level. This system is like your virtual assistant, making it easy to keep up with your busy lifestyle and real-time demands while you’re on the road.

We can confidently say that this is the most stunning and intuitive touchscreen in any truck on our lot. Toyota has set a new bar for other vehicles with this feature. If you are always on the lookout for the most advanced and intelligent infotainment available, we think you’ll be pleased with the 2023 Toyota Tundra. Visit us and have one of our team members show you how all of its functions work. We know you’ll love it as much as we do, and since the Tundra is still powerful and ready for hard work, you don’t have to choose between advanced technology and great towing/hauling abilities. You can have it all in the Tundra. We have competitive prices on the Toyota Tundra and a team who is excited to introduce you to the right trim for your life and needs. Visit us today and see why so many drivers love the Tundra.

A white 2023 Toyota 4Runner Anniversary Edition is shown from the side.

Few automakers have as diverse a lineup of SUVs as Toyota. This auto giant offers SUVs in all shapes and sizes, running from the compact RAV4 all the way to the full-size Sequoia. Toyota also offers SUVs with alternative energy powertrains, like the bZ4X, an EV SUV, and the Highlander Hybrid. However, if you are looking for roominess and size, then Toyota can help you with that as well.

The largest SUVs in Toyota’s lineup are the 4Runner, Highlander, and Sequoia. Each features exceptional performance, incredible dependability, and attention to detail unmatched by most other automakers. They are also big. In the case of the Sequoia, it’s really big. This means that you and your passengers will get the roominess you need while having the utility to carry large loads in their sizable trunks. Performance Toyota is your Toyota SUV dealer. We carry a vast inventory of new, used, and Certified Pre-Owned Toyota SUVs, including the Highlander, 4Runner, and Sequoia, the largest SUV models in Toyota’s lineup. Stop in today and let our friendly sales people show you why bigger certainly is better when it comes to Toyota SUVs. We are sure you will drive out happy in your next Toyota SUV.

2023 Toyota 4Runner

Of the three largest Toyota SUVs, the 4Runner is the one that has been offered the longest. It may seem surprising, but Toyota has been putting drivers behind the wheel of the 4Runner since 1984. This makes it one of the longest-running models in the Toyota lineup. This is a testament to the success of this SUV, which Toyota is celebrating in 2023 with a 40th Anniversary Special Edition model. This is part of the fifth generation of the 4Runner, which started during this SUV’s 2010 model year.

The Toyota 4Runner is a midsize SUV. Its rugged looks let you know that this is a serious machine. Unlike many other automakers, Toyota builds the 4Runner on a truck platform. This gives it a stronger, more powerful ride. You can choose from rear-wheel drive to give you better on-road performance, and four-wheel drive, to improve traction and allow you to take the 4Runner off-road. If this is what you plan to do with your SUV, then the TRD Off-Road, TRD Off-Road Premium, and TRD Pro are the trims of the 4Runner you should consider. These up the ante in off-road features, allowing you to take your 4Runner on its next adventure.

Aside from offering an incredible nine different trim levels on the 2023 4Runner, Toyota also gives you the option of adding a third row of seats. This helps set the 4Runner apart from many other midsize SUVs that come with either two rows or three rows of seats as a standard.

The 2023 4Runner runs on a standard 4.0-liter V6 gas engine paired with a five-speed automatic transmission. This engine delivers 270 horsepower and 278 lb-ft of torque. As a result, the 4Runner is capable of towing up to 5,000 pounds. The roominess of the 4Runner allows you to carry 88 cubic feet of cargo in the trunk with the rear seats folded down, depending on whether you buy a two-row or three-row model.

A red 2023 Toyota Highlander is shown from the front at an angle.

2023 Toyota Highlander

Named for a popular area in Scotland, the Toyota Highlander has made its mark as one of the most versatile and popular three-row midsize SUVs on the market today. Toyota introduced the Highlander in 2001, the same year it launched the Sequoia. Since then, the Highlander has gone through four model generations, with the latest version appearing during the 2020 model year.

The Highlander offers drivers three roomy rows of seats, making it ideal for someone with a large family. It is also considered one of the safest models in its vehicle class, having been named a Top Safety Pick+ by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). Each year, the IIHS conducts a series of crash tests on most passenger vehicles, and names the best models as Top Safety Picks. A big reason for the success of the Highlander comes from Toyota’s decision to make its suite of driver assistance features standard across all trim levels.

The 2023 Highlander comes in two different versions. The standard Highlander has six different trim levels and features a 2.4-liter turbo I-4 gas engine with an eight-speed automatic transmission. This provides 265 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. You can choose between front-wheel drive models that provide 25 miles per gallon combined and all-wheel drive models that deliver 24 miles per gallon combined.

The other version is the Highlander Hybrid, which was introduced in 2017. The 2023 Highlander Hybrid comes in five different trim levels and runs on a 2.5-liter I-4 gas engine paired with one or two electric motors. If you opt for front-wheel drive, there is one electric motor attached to the front axle. If you opt for all-wheel drive, you will get a pair of electric motors, each driving a specific axle. There is a continuously variable transmission (CVT), which works to blend the performance of the gas engine and electric motor. As a result, the Highlander Hybrid produces up to 243 total horsepower and 175 lb-ft of torque. This results in a combined fuel economy of 36 miles per gallon. The only drawback is that the Highlander Hybrid can only tow up to 3,500 pounds, less than the 5,000 pounds of maximum trailering from the conventional gas-engine Highlander.

2023 Toyota Sequoia

The Toyota Sequoia is named for one of the largest trees in the world. It makes sense since this full-size SUV is certainly big and roomy. In fact, the Sequoia offers you room for up to eight passengers in its three rows of seats. The roominess of the Sequoia is shown by the fact that it offers up to 33.7 inches of legroom in the third row. Toyota introduced the Sequoia in 2001, and the all-new 2023 model is the third generation of this behemoth.

Toyota offers the 2023 Sequoia in five different trim levels, with a choice of rear-wheel and four-wheel drive. It runs on a 3.5-liter i-FORCE MAX Twin Turbo V6 Hybrid with a ten-speed transmission, which is standard across all trim lines. By going with a hybrid engine, Toyota has boosted the fuel efficiency of this very large SUV. The twin turbochargers also get the most performance out of the V6 gas engine. The combination of the gas engine and the electric motor deliver 437 combined horsepower and 583 lb-ft of torque. As a result, the 2023 Sequoia can get up to 22 miles per gallon combined. This is the kind of fuel economy you rarely see in a full-size SUV. Even with its fuel-efficient powertrain, the Sequoia doesn’t shortchange you on performance. The 2023 Toyota Sequoia is capable of towing up to 9,520 pounds.

The designers at Toyota have done an exceptional job of apportioning the space inside the Toyota. Aside from its roomy cabin that provides comfortable seating for up to eight passengers, the Sequoia also features plenty of trunk space. The trunk itself has room for up to 22.3 cubic feet of cargo, making it perfect for a family road trip. If you need more space, you can easily fold down the rear two seats to free up 86.9 cubic feet of space. This allows you to get the most utility out of your 2023 Toyota Sequoia.

Speaking of size, Toyota offers a 14-inch touchscreen for the Sequoia’s Toyota Audio Multimedia system. This allows you to stream your favorite music and access your favorite apps using Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It seems fitting that a full-size SUV like the Sequoia would feature the largest touchscreen in Toyota’s lineup.

Bigger Certainly Is Better

Bigger is definitely better when you are talking about Toyota SUVs. These models provide you with the interior size you need for your passengers and cargo. They also deliver efficient performance, with each of the three featuring a powertrain that will help you get you where you need to go. Stop and see why your next SUV should be a Toyota 4Runner, Highlander, Highlander Hybrid, or Sequoia from us!

A red 2023 Toyota Tacoma SR5 SX for sale is shown from the side driving on a trail at night.

Here at Performance Toyota, we keep tabs on all of the latest Toyota news so that we can let you know about the exciting features, cutting-edge tech, and modern styling that the latest models have to offer. As with other models in Toyota’s lineup, we have the Toyota Tacoma for sale on our lot, and in years past, we already had plenty to love about this rugged midsize pickup, but the 2023 model has brought even more to the table. With several new appearance packages and upgrades to multiple trim levels, the Tacoma is even more configurable than it was before and just as tough and practical. Let’s take a look at all that the 2023 Tacoma has to offer.

The SR5 SX Package

Available on the SR5 trim, the new SX Package makes your body color of choice pop with dark trim accents. It adds black overfenders, black 16-inch wheels with black lugnuts, and black side view mirror caps to the exterior. The look is rounded out with an exclusive tailored SX bed graphic and exterior badging that lets the world know you’re driving an SR5 SX Tacoma.

The SR5 Chrome Package

Like the SX Package, the Chrome Package is available on the SR5 trim of the Tacoma and is new for the 2023 model year. Where the SX is understated with black accents, this option shines with plenty of (you guessed it) chrome accents. It features 18-inch polished chrome-finished wheels, chrome outer door handles, and a chrome exhaust tip. In the rear, a shiny tailgate letter insert spells out “Tacoma” loud and proud, and on the inside, as a luxurious extra touch, you’ll find a leather-wrapped shift knob.

SR5 Upgrades

The SR5 trim is an excellent choice for drivers who are looking for good value. It doesn’t cost too much more than the base SR trim, and it adds plenty of features that bring the driving experience to the next level. Interior touches like a leather-trimmed telescopic steering wheel spruce up the cabin, and you unlock the ability to customize the exterior with the new SX and Chrome packages for a unique look.

Beyond gaining two spiffy new appearance packages and giving drivers new ways to customize their trucks to match their personality, the SR5 trim has also received some other upgrades for the 2023 model year. SR5 Tacomas with a V6 engine under the hood now come standard with Toyota’s Smart Key. So instead of having to fish your key out of your pocket or bag every time you need to lock or unlock the doors or start the ignition, you just need to have it on you, and you can get the Tacoma going with the push of a button. Plus, the driver’s seat is power-adjustable, so it’s easy to get each setting just right, whether you’re short, tall, or anywhere in between. SR5s with V6 engines also all come with automatic dual-zone climate control as of this model year, so the driver and front passenger can each set the AC or heat to their ideal temperature, whether they run hot or cold, or you can set it to auto and let the system work its magic.

Limited Upgrades

The SR5 may have the most changes for the 2023 model year, but it’s not the only trim that’s getting some upgrades. The upper-level Limited trim already has plenty of luxury and technology features that are sure to suit the tastes of just about any driver. Leather-trimmed heated seats keep you warm and toasty during the cold months. A blind spot monitor comes standard, working alongside the driver assistance tech that comes standard across all Tacoma trim levels (including forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane departure alert, adaptive cruise control, and automatic high beams). These features help keep you aware of your surroundings and safe on even the longest of road trips. The infotainment system is compatible with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Amazon Alexa and comes with a built-in Dynamic Navigation system that can get you anywhere you need to go.

For the 2023 model year, the Limited now comes standard with an eight-inch touchscreen rather than the base seven-inch version. The larger screen is easier to read at a glance, so you can get the information you need quickly and get your eyes back on the road ASAP. The Limited trim also comes standard with Panoramic View Monitor, a 360-degree camera view that you can use to get a complete look at your surroundings, which can come in handy when you’re navigating tight spaces or parking in a crowded lot.

TRD Pro Upgrades

If you’re looking to take your truck off-road, then it’s hard to do better than the Tacoma TRD Pro. This rugged truck is loaded with special features like skid plates that protect its underbody components from rocks and other obstacles, extra-bright wide-angle LED fog lights that can cut through nasty weather in harsh environments, and TRD-tuned Fox Internal Bypass shocks that keep you in control even when the trail gets rough and rocky. For the 2022 model year, the TRD Pro gained some extra height on what was already a raised suspension, so it now sits 1.5 inches taller for even better angles of approach and departure on uneven terrain.

If you want to make a splash in your off-road truck with a bright, bold color, then you’re in luck. The TRD Pro is now available in the exclusive Solar Octane color, a bright orange that gives you excellent visibility whether you’re speeding through the desert, crawling over rocks, or even kicking up mud deep in the woods. You’ll never lose track of your campsite with this bright orange beacon there to lead you back to it.

TRD Sport Upgrades

Where the TRD Pro is oriented toward rough going on uneven terrain, the TRD Sport is ideal for driving on highways and in cities. Its features are geared toward driver comfort and include a wireless smartphone charging pad that lets you power up your devices without getting tangled up in cables, an auto-dimming rearview mirror that gives you a great view day or night, and a premium audio system that’s perfect for music lovers. For the 2023 model year, the TRD Sport is now available in Electric Lime, a bright green that stands out in a crowd (or a crowded parking lot).

Take on 2023 in the Toyota Tacoma

While the Tacoma didn’t get a major redesign for 2023, there are plenty of things for drivers to be excited about. Several trim levels have new standard features that make driving more comfortable and convenient. Plus, there are new styling options that can help you put your personality on display and get a vehicle with a unique look that stands out in a crowd. The Tacoma already had plenty going for it going into this model year, so these changes are just a cherry on top for a capable truck.

If you’re interested in getting behind the wheel of the new Toyota Tacoma, come on down to Performance Toyota. A red 2020 Toyota Highlander is shown from the front on a dirt road.

Traveling with your family poses unique challenges. From having enough space so everyone on board can feel comfortable to enjoying features to make any ride easier, no matter how long you’re on the road, not all vehicles are equipped to handle today’s busy family. Many families gravitate toward SUVs, and when you want to ensure you’re able to shop from a selection that impresses you with prices you can afford, choosing to shop used is highly advised. If you’re looking for used SUVs for sale to accommodate your family, Performance Toyota has plenty of incredible options, and when it comes to the best SUVs for families, there are a few that stand out from the crowd.

The Toyota Highlander

It’s one of the best family haulers around, with a five-star safety rating, plenty of room for all of your family members, plus a cavernous cargo hold to accommodate your travel belongings. The Toyota Highlander is eye-catching, rugged, and durable, and it’s ready to add immense comfort and security to your daily drive. If you’re shopping used, we recommend models from 2020 and newer. This selection showcases a fine lineup, including hybrid models to enhance efficiency, while you’re running from school to the doctor’s office, orthodontist appointments, sports practice, and everywhere else a busy family has to go during the day. It’s easy to handle and smooth on the road, allowing your family to enjoy the drive, even on those road trips across the state to visit grandma.

The Hyundai Palisade

It may seem as though you’re looking at a high-end luxury SUV, but with affordable pricing and favorable features, the Hyundai Palisade is a top choice for many families. Making its debut for the 2020 model year, no matter which model you choose, you’ll be undoubtedly impressed with the Palisade, but our pick lies in the 2021 arsenal with the top-level Calligraphy trim. Quilted leather seating materials and a refined ambiance make family travels infinitely better. An in-car intercom, a power-folding middle row, and rear climate controls are helpful features to provide families with what they need on the road. With room for up to eight and 86 cu.ft. of cargo space in recent model years, the Palisade offers functional luxury on a budget for families everywhere.

The Chevy Traverse

Many families shy away from minivans due to the fact that they’re cumbersome and outdated, opting for SUVs that offer them minivan features in a more stylish package. The Chevy Traverse does this perfectly with its rugged, truck-inspired build and loads of designer features, especially as you make your way up the trim levels. An elevated driver’s seat improves visibility on the road, while standard and available driver assistance features make it easy to navigate your journey with assurance. Choosing models from 2020 will allow you to enjoy advanced camera technology, including a 360-degree camera, as well as an HD backup camera to help you stay aware of what lies around you on the road. Chevy is also known for making their vehicles exceptionally strong, and with a towing capacity of up to 5,000 lbs, plus camera views to help with hitching up your trailer, the Traverse is able to handle more during your travels.

A red 2021 Ford Explorer ST is shown from the front at an angle after leaving a dealer that had used SUVs for sale.

The Ford Explorer

The Explorer is one of the original family favorites, making its debut before many others on this list in the early ’90s. This three-row SUV isn’t just smooth to drive and easy to maneuver anywhere you’re traveling; it’s also incredibly safe, earning five stars in crash testing. Perhaps what’s most appreciated is the space inside, as the Explorer is able to offer generous legroom in all rows, which makes it ideal for transporting families of all sizes. When looking at used Explorers, we recommend models from 2020, as these models showcase one of its latest redesigns, which include features like more modern styling elements, improved ride quality, and enhanced tech to elevate the feeling of the ride.

The Subaru Ascent

Standard all-wheel drive, some of the best safety systems in the industry, and reliability like no other are just a few things to love about a Subaru, and the Ascent is conditioned to transport busy families around town and beyond. This respected model emerged just recently in 2019, offering drivers more space to haul around rambunctious travelers, as well as all of their must-have travel gear. Models from its introductory year include plenty of can’t-miss features, like untouchable safety and driver assistance options, as well as a superior engine that delivers the power and excitement you’re looking for in your daily drive. Especially ideal for those frequently traveling through inclement weather, the Subaru Ascent projects the brand’s legacy throughout its rugged and capable build, making it one of the best choices when your family’s travels are on the line.

The Honda Pilot

Adventurous families love the bold design of the Honda Pilot, which is capable of taking you into the wilderness for a weekend in nature or down the street to sports practice with ease. Not only has it received five stars from the NHTSA in crash testing, but it has also been frequently seen as an IIHS Top Safety Pick for years. Combining the versatility found in the Odyssey minivan with a sleek, rugged style that can be seen in many SUVs, the Pilot is an ideal blend of form and function. Choosing models from its mid-cycle refresh in 2019 allows you to take advantage of more convenient features, like larger rear entertainment screens to keep your passengers occupied, as well as the CabinTalk intercom system to stay in touch with all on board without having to shout.

The Chevy Suburban

It’s large, it’s powerful, and it’s ready to transport your brood wherever you need to go in absolute comfort. The Chevy Suburban is cavernous inside, with three rows of seating and room for up to nine when configured properly. Over 144 cu.ft. of cargo space, especially when you opt for newer models, allows you to take anything and everything on the road with you. We recommend choosing a model from 2021, as this model year unveils a brand-new generation for the oldest nameplate in the Chevy arsenal. Its longer stance allows it to handle more, and with plenty of powertrain options and smooth ride quality, made possible by a specialized air suspension system, any ride in the Suburban will be superb.

A white 2020 Toyota Highlander is shown from the front at an angle in the forest.

The Toyota Sequoia

Built for family adventurers, the Toyota Sequoia is ready for anything, with its durable design, off-road-ready features, and top tech to make any drive connected and protected. Models from 2020, for instance, showcase the debut of the TRD Pro model, which takes off-road adventuring to a whole new level with a lifted suspension, front skid plate, and intense all-wheel drive capabilities to help propel you forward, despite the terrain. For families who love to get off the beaten path, the Sequoia is designed to handle anything that the trails toss your way, and when it’s time to get back on the road, its large interior and spacious cargo hold make it easy to travel anywhere in absolute comfort.

Models and Trims

The RAV4 was originally only available as a conventional gasoline-powered vehicle. However, all of that changed in 2016 when Toyota introduced the RAV4 Hybrid, giving drivers a second choice for an excellent powertrain for their vehicle. The RAV4 Prime joined the team in 2021. This is a plug-in version of the RAV4 Hybrid, which allows drivers to recharge the battery at a public DC supercharger or from the comfort of their own home.

The 2023 RAV4 offers drivers six different trim levels. The base model is the LE, which is also the base model of the RAV4 Hybrid. If you are looking for a few more features for your money, there are the XLE and XLE Premium trims, which are on both the RAV4 and RAV4 Hybrid. Interestingly, the top trim on both models is the Limited, but each offers a slightly different pair of upper-level trims.

Toyota offers you two different gasoline-only RAV4 models that come with standard all-wheel drive and are designed for folks who would like to try their hand at off-roading. These are the Adventure and the TRD Off-Road. For those who don’t know, TRD stands for Toyota Racing Development. These are the designers and engineers who work on the Toyota sports cars. They take the innovations they develop for these models and then apply them to ones that are commercial.

As for the RAV4 Hybrid, Toyota offers the SE and XSE trims that come in just below the Limited. These are also the only two trims available on the 2022 Toyota RAV4 Prime.

Engines and Performance

The key to any vehicle is its powertrain. This combination of engine and transmission is the part that provides the propulsion. It has a great impact on performance, determining things like acceleration, handling, and fuel economy. With each of the three models of the 2022 RAV4, Toyota has chosen to go with a standard powertrain.

If you are looking at the gas-only RAV4, the engine is a 2.5-liter Dynamic Force I-4 engine paired with a direct shift, eight-speed electronically controlled automatic transmission. This engine features a dual overhead cam configuration, with 16 valves feeding the four cylinders. Toyota has equipped it with a dual variable valve timing system to provide improved fuel efficiency. Interestingly enough, the 2.5-liter gas engine on the RAV4 has a combination of fuel injectors, using both direct injection and port injection. This helps improve performance, delivering up to 203 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque.

The RAV4 Hybrid has a specially modified version of the engine featured on the standard RAV4 model. In place of the eight-speed automatic transmission is an electronically controlled continuously variable transmission (CVT) with sequential shift mode. Also, the RAV4 Hybrid adds a pair of permanent magnet synchronous electric motors to the engine, which boosts output to 219 total combined horsepower. This pair of electric motors are powered by a 259-volt sealed nickel-metal hydride battery. Instead of relying on an external power source to recharge the battery, the gas engine on the RAV4 Hybrid charges a generator, which in turn recharges this battery pack. It also uses kinetic energy brake recapture, taking a portion of the energy released each time you step on the brakes to help keep the battery pack charged up.

Toyota has taken a similar approach with the RAV4 Prime. This also has a 2.5-liter Dynamic Force I-4 combined with two electric motors. However, it uses a more powerful 259-volt sealed lithium-ion battery, allowing it to produce 302 total horsepower. This gives it greater acceleration, with the RAV4 Prime able to go 0-60 miles per hour in 5.5 seconds, compared to the RAV4 with the gas engine, which needs 8.4 seconds to get up to 60 miles per hour.

The RAV4 Prime also has the ability to be recharged at public charging stations or at your own home. Also, unlike the 2022 RAV4, which comes with standard front-wheel drive and available all-wheel drive on most trims, the RAV4 Hybrid and RAV4 Prime are standard all-wheel drive, giving you improved traction.

Fuel Economy

One of the biggest selling points for the 2022 RAV4 is its excellent fuel economy. No matter which model you choose, you are going to get the kind of gas mileage that is among the best in its vehicle class. For example, the RAV4 with the gas engine will give you an impressive combined fuel economy of 30 MPG regardless of whether you choose front-wheel drive or available all-wheel drive. The RAV4 Hybrid primarily utilizes its electric motors at lower speeds, which is why it gets an amazing 40 MPG combined. This makes it perfect for someone who has to run daily errands around town. As for the RAV4 Prime, this model uses its powerful powertrain to deliver an incredible 94 MPGe or 42 miles on electric power alone, which is why this is a great model for commuters looking to save at the gas pump.

Roomy Interior

The 2022 Toyota RAV4 has plenty of room for up to five passengers in its spacious interior. Even more so in the Hybrid and Prime versions. This is because Toyota has cleverly secured the battery packs on the RAV4 Hybrid and RAV4 Prime models under the rear row of seats. This not only shields them from damage in the unfortunate case of an accident, but it also makes sure that you don’t lose any passenger or cargo space. As a result, all models of the 2022 RAV4 have a spacious 37.8 inches of legroom in the back. This is great because then you won’t have your passengers fighting over who gets to ride shotgun.

The interior of the RAV4 is cloaked in a choice of comfortable and attractive fabrics. While the more entry-level models have a cloth interior, the higher trims sport a SofTex-trimmed seating area that really pops.

Technology

Toyota has done a wonderful job of using technology to get the most out of the 2022 RAV4. Each model comes with a Toyota Audio infotainment system that integrates key vehicle information with entertainment features and smartphone connectivity. The standard system has a seven-inch color touchscreen with a six-speaker audio system. This seamlessly integrates your smartphone with the Toyota Audio system via Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, or Amazon Alexa. There is even a free three-month trial of 2 GB Wi-Fi Connect. The upper trims come with the Toyota Audio Plus system on a nine-inch touchscreen. A Premium Audio system with Dynamic Navigation is available as an option on these models.

Each 2022 RAV4 also comes with a standard Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 suite of driver assistance features. This is one of the most comprehensive standard safety systems, including such features as Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control with Road Sign Assist and Lane Tracing Assist. These are usually available on comparable models from other brands as a premium feature. Toyota shows its commitment to vehicle safety by making the Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 set of driver-assist features standard on all models of the 2022 RAV4 regardless of trim level.
