When you think of luxury three-row SUVs, you probably go right to the premium brands like BMW, Audi, Mercedes-Benz, Lexus, and Cadillac. However, one of the most luxurious three-row SUVs is also one of the most affordable. For about the same price as the entry-level trim on any of these premium brands, you can get a top-trim Toyota Highlander with more luxury features and touches than you will find in those other models.

At Performance Toyota, we are your Toyota Highlander dealer, giving you more options and choices than any other dealership for these three-row SUV models. We are located in Sinking Spring, just a short drive from Reading, where we proudly serve drivers in eastern Pennsylvania and New Jersey who know that Toyota is one of the most reliable brands for quality and luxurious vehicles at an affordable price, like the 2022 Highlander.

If you want to be looking for luxury in all the right places, then you should consider the Toyota Highlander XSE, Limited, or Platinum trim levels. These models will give you an incredible assortment of standard premium features that help them stand out from the crowd while giving you and your passengers a great ride along the way.

The Three Highest Trims of the Highlander

Toyota has six different trim levels for the 2022 Highlander. However, if you are looking for the most luxurious features, then your best bets are the Highlander XSE, Limited, and Platinum models. These may cost you more than $10,000 over the $35,855 MSRP on the base L trim of the 2022 Highlander, but if you are looking for the most out of your three-row SUV, then this is worth the extra money.[a]

When you are looking at these three trim levels, you will notice that each has something special to recommend it. The 2022 Highlander XSE rides on a set of 20-inch machined-face alloy wheels and has a sport-tuned independent MacPherson strut front suspension with a stabilizer bar. This is the model for someone who wants luxury and performance. It has a set of LED projector headlights with black accents and LED-strip daytime running lights offsetting its sporty front black mesh grille. There are also a set of LED fog lights set below the headlights that will come in handy on misty mornings. The speedy nature of the Highlander XSE is assisted by a rear lower bumper in a gray metallic finish with a chrome lower spoiler. It also has a power liftgate that will make accessing the trunk easier than ever.

The Highlander Limited moves away from performance and more towards glamour with specialized exterior finishes. It also has a set of LED projector headlights but adds high-output LED fog lights that will work like magic in low visibility. Its 20-inch chrome wheels and black-pained front grille with chrome-plated surround give it a little more bling, while the acoustic noise-reducing front side windows will keep you and your passengers free from distraction. The rear power liftgate is height-adjustable and has a hands-free feature that will come in handy when you are carrying lots of packages.

The ultimate exterior styling on the Highlander is the Platinum model. The LED projector headlights on the Highlander Platinum feature an adaptive front-lighting system with auto-leveling to keep them focused on the road ahead. These frame a black-painted front grille with chrome-plated surround. The front lower bumper sports a gorgeous silver finish, with a pair of powerful high-output LED fog lights riding above. The windshield has a set of rain-sensing wipers that will set themselves to intermittent usage depending on the strength of the inclement weather. The Highlander Platinum rides on a set of 20-inch alloy wheels and sports a panoramic glass roof with a sunshade to let the outdoors in for all three rows of your SUV.

A Spacious Interior That Reaches the Heights of Luxury

The Highlander comes with 139.5 cubic feet of passenger volume. Toyota has chosen to upholster the seats inside the XSE, Limited, and Platinum models of the 2022 Highlander with a choice of the finest materials. The Highlander XSE features SofTex-trimmed front and second-row seats that have a cool two-tone look. These not only look great, but they are super comfortable. Leather seats are available on the XSE with a red and black design featuring red accent stitching. The front-row seats are heated.

The Highlander Limited and Platinum feature leather-trimmed front and second-row seats. The front-row seats on the Limited and Platinum are heated and ventilated, with the Highlander Platinum also offering heating in the second row. This will come in handy on those cool Pennsylvania autumn mornings. All three models feature a ten-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with power lumbar support and an eight-way power-adjustable front passenger seat. This will make sure that you and whoever is lucky enough to ride shotgun will be able to adjust your seats for maximum comfort.

The XSE, Limited, and Platinum Highlander models seat up to seven passengers in a two-two-three configuration. You can also get the Highlander Limited with a second-row 60/40 bench seat that will accommodate up to eight passengers in a two-three-three configuration.

Toyota has truly gone the extra mile with these three models, making sure to use every inch of space to provide little features to make the ride more enjoyable. For example, these three models of the Highlander feature a soft-touch in-dash split-level shelf that will come in handy for placing your smart devices for easy access on a road trip. There are over 14 cup and bottle holders spread throughout the cabin so that all of the passengers will have a place to safely stow their beverages. The Limited and Platinum models even have a cargo area tonneau cover for added privacy. The standard ambient interior lighting will help the cabin glow, illuminating the ornamental dash trim and other touches throughout the cabin.

Cutting-Edge Technology to Reach New Heights

Toyota has used technology to help set the 2022 Highlander apart from other luxury three-row SUV models. It starts with the Toyota Audio Multimedia infotainment system that comes standard on all Highlander models. The 2022 Highlander XSE has an Audio Plus system on an eight-inch color touchscreen with six speakers, wireless Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto compatibility, and four USB charging ports.

The Highlander Limited takes things to the next level with the Premium Audio system on an eight-inch touchscreen, which adds eleven JBL speakers, including a subwoofer and amplifier. The Premium Audio system also features Toyota’s Dynamic Navigation system with a three-year trial subscription. This gives you turn-by-turn navigation, so you can get wherever you are going safely and easily. The Premium Audio system is available as an option on the Highlander XSE.

The Highlander Platinum takes things even higher by featuring a 12.3-inch touchscreen on its Premium Audio system, which is available as an option on the Highlander Limited. All three models also come with a complimentary three-month Platinum Plan trial subscription to SiriusXM. When combined with the JBL speakers on the Premium Audio system, your Highlander will turn into a mobile concert hall while you stream your favorite music.

If you and your passengers need to keep your devices charged while out on the road in the Highlander, you can do so easily with the Qi Wireless Charging device located in the center console. This comes standard on the XSE, Limited, and Platinum models. Simply place your Qi-compatible smartphone into the center console and get charged up before you reach your destination.

The Highlander XSE, Limited, and Platinum feature a seven-inch color LCD Multi-information Display, providing you with all the information you will need on your trip. This includes such things as an odometer, trip, and average fuel economy gauge, cruise control guide, and an AWD torque distribution monitor on all-wheel drive models. The Highlander Platinum adds a ten-inch color Head-Up Display that includes a speedometer with Road Sign Assist to help you better avoid getting speeding tickets.
