The New Prius Prime Gets an Upgrade in Performance

The hybrid has come a long way since its first inception, and the new Prius is a “Prime” example. Utilizing a redesigned lithium-ion battery paired with a 2.0L engine, the Prime has an impressive 220 hp output. The newly developed battery also offers an extended range, with an increase of over 50% compared to the previous model. A longer-lasting charge means going further than ever before, allowing you more time to enjoy the thrill of the Prius Prime.

The Prius Prime has improved handling thanks to the redesigned stance, which has been lowered and widened. With a two-inch drop and new battery placement under the rear seat, the Prime has a lower center of gravity than before. Additionally, a reduction in overall weight and more rigid underpinnings provide a fun and sporty drive. Plus, with increased cargo capacity, you don’t sacrifice function for design.

With such sporty handling, it’s easy to forget that this is, first and foremost, a hybrid. Roof-mounted solar panels on the XSE Premium trim provide onboard charging when parked and supplemental power when driving. But, thanks to the design, you won’t feel like you’re driving around with an awkward and ugly display on your car. Additionally, as a plug-in hybrid, you get to experience the freedom of charging virtually anywhere.

Coming Into 2023 With an All-New Style

The all-new 2023 Toyota Prius Prime is breaking all the rules. What was once a recognized symbol of efficiency is now an example of innovation and design. The Prime has been given a sporty new look, fit for the bump in power. From exterior to interior, Toyota has really upped its game when it comes to the look and feel of the Prius Prime.

The Prime has been stretched a bit, which is emphasized by the sleek body panels. Sculpting along each side creates a sharp appearance, adding a modern flair. Narrow lighting in the front keeps a streamlined look, and with the addition of an optional glass roof, the new Prius Prime could be the main character in a movie set in the future.

    The Three Trim Lineup

There are three trim levels, the SE, XSE, and XSE Premium, each available in five unique colors. The SE is the base trim, with 17-inch alloy wheels that emphasize the exterior’s contemporary design. Inside, you’ll find a new driver-focused display cluster, leather-trimmed heated steering wheel, and accent color stripes on the dash and seats that mimic the lines on the exterior.

The XSE has 19-inch wheels instead of the 17-inch ones, with a unique spoke design. Heated front seats and a power driver seat add comfort to the already luxurious Prime. The seats are covered in synthetic SoftTex faux leather, offering responsible style.

The XSE Premium’s seats are not only heated but they are also ventilated, meaning hot summer days will be more enjoyable. Plus, they offer memory, so they adjust to your desired settings when you start the car. There is also an optional upgrade to add heated seats at the back. Plus, with an eight-speaker sound system, the Prius Prime XSE Premium is everything you want in a top-tier trim.

    Upgraded Interior Tech

Hybrid and technology sort of go together like peanut butter and jelly. It’s expected, and the 2023 Toyota Prius Prime does not disappoint. An eight-inch touchscreen adorns the console of the SE and XSE trim, while a 12.3” comes standard with the XSE Premium. The XSE trims also offer wireless charging capabilities for devices, Smart Key, and Direct Light Illumination. Smart Key enables you to access your car without the key and, in some cases, offers remote start.

The XSE Premium also offers Digital Key technology. Digital Key gives you the power to start and stop your vehicle, as well as lock and unlock it, via your smartphone. When connected to “Digital-Key-as-a-service,” there are endless things you can do. Using an encryption key for the Digital Key means that the service is completely safe and secure.

Packed With Legendary Toyota Safety Features

Speaking of safety, safety features like Traffic Jam Assist, which uses sensors to prevent collisions, are revolutionizing the way we drive. Traffic Jam Assist keeps you at a safe distance from other vehicles and behaves as a reflex if you don’t react quickly enough. Blind Spot Monitoring and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert also work to prevent collisions by monitoring and reacting. The XSE also offers Front and Rear Parking Assist, which detects front and rear collisions and can initiate automatic braking when needed.

An additional available option with the XSE Premium is Advanced Park. Advanced Park uses sensors to read information around the vehicle, then it uses that information to provide hands-free parking. The Panoramic View Monitor is another optional feature designed for convenience. The Panoramic View Monitor feature uses a series of cameras placed around the vehicle to guide you in parking, backing up, etc.

Available Intelligent Assistant takes comfort and convenience to a whole new level with voice-activated commands. You can adjust cabin temperatures, change audio settings, and more with simple voice commands. Using Wi-Fi Connect, users can connect to their personal Apple Music and Amazon Music subscription, and with the ability to turn your vehicle into a hotspot, you can access all your favorites. The Prius Prime also comes standard with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.
