Adventure, excitement—a truck owner definitely craves these things, and the midsize Toyota Tacoma has been the perfect choice for thrill-seekers for many years now. However, with the all-new 2024 Tacoma, Toyota has taken things to the next level and delivered a pickup like we have never seen before. As your Toyota dealer near Lancaster, PA, we feel it is only right to make sure all of our friends and customers know about what’s new and exciting in the Toyota lineup. Few vehicles live up to this as beautifully as the redesigned 2024 Tacoma, that’s absolutely perfect for getting around town, handling some serious work, and leaving civilization behind to have some fun. Let’s look at some details of this truck, and you’ll see why we’re so excited about everything it offers.

Redesigned for a New Era

Although the Toyota Tacoma can help you get some work done, many people choose this truck for exploring the great outdoors and having fun far from the city. This is something Toyota understands, and finding new ways to facilitate that was at the heart of their approach to redesigning the Tacoma. They wanted to build a truck that was just as much at home in forests and splashing through creeks as it is racing through deserts and overlanding for weeks at a time. The result was a redesigned truck using Toyota’s new TNGA-F truck platform shared with the full-size Tundra.

For the 2024 Tacoma, the chassis is built from high-strength steel to ensure it can survive a lot of abuse on the trail, with aluminum on the upper body to keep weight down. A newly available multi-link rear suspension replaces the leaf springs on older models with coil springs for boosted performance and a better feel when driving around Lancaster. Four-wheel disc brakes have helped to improve the Tacoma’s braking (important for the more powerful engines we’ll look at in a moment), along with larger front brakes on TRD models to enhance stopping power even more. Each grade or trim also has a specifically-tuned suspension designed to improve the capability and functionality of each of them, providing you with a better driving experience.

Fantastic Engines for Getting Around Lancaster

We mentioned those engines a moment ago, and we couldn’t wait to get into them because they’re some of the most impressive powertrains we’ve ever seen on a midsize truck. Most models come with a 2.4L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine tuned for two different levels of performance depending on the trim you look at. Standard SR models of the Tacoma get 228 hp and 243 lb-ft of torque; higher trims have an engine that delivers 278 hp and 317 lb-ft of torque. Both versions of this engine come paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, but there’s a six-speed manual available if you prefer total control over your truck—this perfectly illustrates how well Toyota understands truck fans.

In case this remarkable engine doesn’t have the power you’re looking for, Toyota has taken things even further with an available i-FORCE MAX hybrid engine that combines the 2.4L engine with a battery-powered motor. With this engine, the Tacoma roars to life with 326 hp and 465 lb-ft of torque, offering far greater torque than anything the previous generation’s engines could deliver. We’d be lying if we said that this isn’t the engine we’re most excited about, and it’s fantastic to see Toyota showing such a commitment to power and performance when it comes to the midsize segment.

Unparalleled Off-Road Performance

As we said earlier, Toyota’s focus when redesigning the Tacoma was meeting the needs of drivers who want a midsize truck born for adventure; we’d say they more than met their goal. For starters, you have an all-new front stabilizer bar disconnect that you can activate with the push of a button to improve the flexibility and articulation of the Tacoma’s front end, which has even been designed to work with approved lift kits so you can still customize your truck. TRD Pro models, well known as some of the best off-road trucks on the market, have 11 inches of ground clearance, an approach angle of 33.8 degrees, a breakover angle of 23.5 degrees, and a 25.7-degree departure angle.

Perhaps most exciting of all, Toyota is introducing an entirely new Trailhunter grade for the 2024 Tacoma, which has been designed specifically with overlanding in mind. The Trailhunter was created in partnership with a renowned Australian company and included position-sensitive 2.5-inch forged monotube shocks, a steel rear bumper, strong recovery points, and a bed utility bar. There’s even an available bed rack designed to handle extra weight from things like rooftop tents, camp showers, and more. With 33-inch Goodyear Territory R/T tires, a high-clearance tail exhaust, and a high-mounted air intake, the Trailhunter has been designed to go anywhere you can imagine and let you stay there as long as you want.

Robust Capability for Work and Play

In all of the excitement about enhanced off-road performance and the all-new Trailhunter model, it’s easy to forget that this is still a truck, and it’s been built with work as well as play in mind. When properly equipped, the 2024 Tacoma can handle up to 6,500 lbs of maximum towing capacity or up to 1,709 lbs of maximum payload. This means you can easily load it up with everything you need to take with you and head to a job site or your favorite campground. Whether you need a midsize truck for taking a boat to the river or Clarke Lake on the weekend or for making a trip to Philly, the Tacoma has you covered.

Innovative Technology Throughout

Despite a focus on delivering an adventurous truck for thrill-seekers, Toyota hasn’t overlooked the need for amazing features inside the 2024 Tacoma. While an 8.0-inch Infotainment display is standard on starting models, the available 14-inch multimedia touchscreen is gorgeous and the perfect choice for getting the most from what the Tacoma has to offer. The Infotainment system supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus has numerous USB ports for charging and connectivity, along with an available Qi wireless charging pad to make it even easier to keep compatible devices charged.

A 7.0-inch gauge cluster display is standard for the Tacoma, but there’s an available 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster that looks stunning and makes it easy to keep an eye on information while staying focused on the road. All Tacoma models come with a Smart Key System with push-button start; while an available Digital Key system lets you use your smartphone for entry, tailgate access, and even starting the truck. To really elevate your driving experience around Lancaster, there’s an available JBL 10-speaker sound system that includes a subwoofer and JBL FLEX portable speaker that’s perfect for taking your music with you on your next adventure.

The Tacoma Has Everything We’ve Been Hoping For

As you can see, the all-new 2024 Toyota Tacoma is a truck unlike anything else out there, with powerful performance, amazing off-road features, and technology designed to take your drive further than ever before.
